Woman facing gang-related charges hired as youth detention worker. Boyfriend accused of three "gangland slayings."

From the Toronto Star (Woman was working at youth jail despite murder charge by Betsy Powell, October 3):

The girlfriend of a man accused of three gangland slayings was hired as a detention worker at a secure custody facility for young offenders despite facing serious gang-related charges herself.

Dana Lee Williams, 25, has now been fired from the York Detention Centre and is in custody facing four charges of breaching her bail conditions, sources say.

Police wonder how she was cleared to work at the group home despite all personnel needing a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) check.

In October 2004, Toronto police arrested Williams and 17 other reputed members and associates of the Galloway Boys, a street gang engaged in a turf war with the Malvern Crew.

As part of Project Pathfinder, police laid more than 100 charges against alleged members of the Galloway Boys, including three counts of first-degree murder and eight counts of attempted murder against Tyshan Riley, 24. Riley is Williams' boyfriend but the two have been prohibited from communicating since his arrest in 2004.
